One of the neatest inventions that cat lovers have praised is the automatic litter box. It works for you to scoop the litter box even when you are not home.

Be warned, however, automatic litter boxes are definitely not cheap.

Here are some important questions to consider if you are debating whether to buy an automatic box:

Do you want to be able to choose whichever type of litter that happens to be on sale at the moment?

Is kitty particular about switching litters?

Did you know that many automatic boxes need the cartridges changed every month?

Did you know that even if you buy an automatic litter box you will still need to perform regular maintenance duties on it?

If you are the type of person that just loves shopping for sales and if you like to try out different, new brands of litter then remember that with an automatic box you will most likely have to stick to one brand or very few.

You can no longer use just any litter you want, because your box will not work as well or might not work at all!

Since many users complain about this issue and if you are okay with sticking with the same litter you should be fine here.

If your cat is a picky kitty and has an aversion for all things new, such as new types of litter then think about what an impact the box and the new litter might have on her.

If you purchase a box that needs cartridges replaced every month then consider the extra cost that it will add up to.

It is important to consider these little extras before you make that purchase, and if you still feel the advantages outweigh the extra cost then go for it!
